The Quality Assessment Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining a robust 
quality assurance framework across all End‑Point Assessment (EPA) and apprenticeship assessment 
activities. The role ensures that assessments are valid, reliable, fair, and compliant with regulatory 
requirements, awarding organisation conditions, and internal policies.
The Quality Assessment Manager will work closely with independent assessors, internal quality assurers, the 
Assessment Organisation Manager, and senior leadership to promote a culture of continuous improvement 
and regulatory confidence.
This role is central to ensuring that EpAO and Assessment operations are efficient, fully auditable, and 
consistently aligned with Ofqual standards and all relevant apprenticeship assessment regulatory 
requirements. 
The Quality Assurance Manager will play a pivotal role in ensuring the delivery of robust, fair, and highquality assessments for apprentices across multiple sectors, maintaining strict compliance with regulatory 
frameworks and assessment standards. They will champion a culture of continuous improvement, 
accountability, and quality assurance through close collaboration with internal teams, external stakeholders, 
and regulatory bodies.
This position is critical in safeguarding operational excellence, proactively managing compliance risks, and 
strengthening the effectiveness and efficiency of assessment processes. The successful applicant will

collaboration with internal teams, external stakeholders, and regulatory bodies.
This role is integral to ensuring the effective implementation and continuous improvement of Assessment 
quality assurance processes. It supports the delivery of consistent, compliant, and high-quality assessment 
practices, while mitigating regulatory and operational risks. By fostering a culture of accountability and 
continuous improvement, the role works collaboratively with internal teams, independent assessors, and 
external stakeholders to uphold standards set by awarding organisations and regulatory bodies, ensuring the 
integrity, fairness, and reliability of all activities.

Main Duties 
• Lead and manage the quality assurance of End Point Assessment (EPA) delivery, ensuring all 
assessment practices are valid, reliable, fair, and consistent. 
• Ensure full compliance with Ofqual conditions, apprenticeship assessment plans, and all relevant 
regulatory and awarding organisation requirements. 
• Develop, implement, and continuously improve internal quality assurance (IQA) frameworks, 
policies, and procedures. 
• Oversee standardisation and moderation activities to ensure consistency of assessment decisions 
across assessors and sectors. 
• Manage the recruitment, onboarding, and approval of Independent Assessors, ensuring they meet 
occupational competency, assessment, and regulatory requirements. 
• Ensure all Independent Assessors are appropriately trained, standardised, and continuously 
monitored to maintain assessment quality and compliance.
• Manage internal and external quality assurance activities, including preparation for audits, 
inspections, and regulatory reviews. 
• Monitor assessment delivery and outcomes, identifying risks, trends, and areas for improvement, 
and implementing corrective actions. 
• Ensure all EPA processes and documentation are accurate, robust, and audit-ready at all times. 
• Lead on the investigation and resolution of appeals, complaints, and maladministration/malpractice 
cases in line with regulatory requirements. 
• Work closely with assessors, internal teams, and external stakeholders to promote best practice and 
ensure high-quality assessment delivery. 
• Provide guidance, training, and support to assessors and staff on quality standards, compliance 
expectations, and assessment practices. 
• Produce and present quality, compliance, and performance reports to senior leadership and 
governance bodies. 
• Support the organisation’s application, recognition, and ongoing compliance as an End Point 
Assessment Organisation (EPAO). 
• Drive a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and quality enhancement across EPA 
operations. 
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulatory changes, apprenticeship standards, and sector 
requirements, ensuring organisational readiness and compliance. 
• Identify opportunities to improve processes, data integrity, and compliance across the organisation.

Job Responsibilities 
• Ensuring quality and compliance by leading the design, implementation, and ongoing review of 
quality assurance and assessment processes. 
• Regulatory compliance and governance ensuring compliance with Ofqual Conditions of Recognition, 
Skills England assessment requirements, awarding organisation rules, and our assessment specific 
policies
• Act as subject matter lead for audits, monitoring visits, and external reviews, including Ofqual and 
awarding organisations, and maintain oversight of assessment validity, reliability, consistency, and 
standardisation across all standards and routes
• Oversee assessment & standardisation of monitored activities and ensure assessment decisions are 
consistent, appropriately evidenced, and internally quality assured
• Review and sign off assessment materials, mark schemes, sampling plans, and quality reports where 
required and identify and address risks to assessment integrity or learner experience
• Data, Risk & Continuous Improvement by analysing assessment data, appeals, malpractice, 
complaints, and feedback to identify trends and risks, leading to root cause analysis and corrective 
action planning. 
• Develop, maintain, and review quality-related policies, procedures, and guidance, ensure quality 
documentation remains up to date with regulatory changes
• Support regulatory submissions, self‑assessments, and statements of compliance 
• Provide professional guidance and support to assessors, independent assessors, and operational 
staff
• Contribute to training and onboarding related to quality and compliance
• Lead on the administration and auditing of quality assurance in the development, implementation 
and management of internal quality assurance mechanisms to continually improve our end-point 
assessment services.
Administration 
• Maintain robust, auditable records of all assessment activities, ensuring documentation integrity and 
full traceability for internal and external quality assurance purposes.
• Ensure timely and accurate processing, verification, and recording of assessment outcomes in line 
with Ofqual and awarding organisation requirements.
• Manage and maintain EPA management information systems and databases, ensuring data accuracy, 
security, and readiness for audit and quality review.
• Preparation and generation of compliance, performance, and quality reports and distribute regular 
quality compliance reports as required.

Safeguarding 
• Actively support and promote safeguarding to ensure the safety and well-being of students, visitors, 
and staff.

Essential Criteria: 
• Significant experience in quality assurance within EPA, apprenticeships, awarding organisations, or 
regulated assessment
• Strong working knowledge of Ofqual regulation, Skills England requirements, and external quality 
assurance models
• Experience of assessor monitoring, sampling, and standardisation
• Ability to interpret regulatory guidance and translate it into practical processes
• Excellent analytical, report‑writing, and communication skills
• Proven ability to manage risk and support regulatory compliance
• Experience of having worked in the development or support of apprenticeships.
• Proven line management and operational management experience.
• Proficiency in Microsoft 365, especially Outlook, Word, Excel (advanced level), and Teams.
• Commitment to continuous improvement (personal and organisational).
• Strong analytical skills for evaluating detailed information and preparing/presenting reports.
• Ability to work within tight deadlines and remain focused under pressure.
• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
• Tenacious, results-driven, and team-oriented.

Desirable Criteria:
• Experience working directly within an EPAO, awarding or assessment organisation or regulator EPAO
/AO
• Familiarity with DfE funding rules, Skills England and Ofqual regulatory compliance standards.
• Lead IQA / EQA experience
• Experience supporting audits or regulatory monitoring visits
• Familiarity with multiple assessment methods (professional discussion, observation, tests, portfolios)
• Teaching, assessment, or quality-related qualifications (e.g. IQA, TAQA, EQA)
• Experience within the education sector Previous experience in education sector or a similar 
environment.
Other Duties 
• Perform additional duties related to the role as required.
• Actively participate in organisational initiatives aimed at improving assessment and operational 
effectiveness.
• Many involve some travel within the UK
