About us

At Supporting Education Group (SEG), we’re here to empower the world of education. As the UK’s leading education services platform, we bring together four specialist practices that support every corner of the sector - from teacher supply and SEN tutoring to qualifications, training and essential professional services.

We serve over 18,000 customers, employ 1,600 people, and generate over £288 million in revenue annually. Backed by private equity, our rapid growth - both organic and through acquisitions - means we’re constantly evolving to meet the changing needs of schools, educators, and learners.

With central teams across technology, finance, people, and marketing, we’re now entering an exciting transformation phase - simplifying how we work, consolidating contracts, and strengthening supplier relationships to build a more sustainable, efficient future.

About the Role

As a Finance Business Partner, you’ll be at the heart of driving commercial decisions and supporting profitable growth. Working closely with Business Directors, Heads of Service, and the Finance team, you’ll translate financial data into actionable insight, challenge performance, and help shape strategy across the business.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Partnering with the business to identify revenue growth, margin improvement, and cost efficiency opportunities.
  • Supporting pricing models, contracts, and commercial negotiations.
  • Preparing month-end packs, variance analysis, and performance dashboards.
  • Developing new automated dashboards and reports in Power BI to improve visibility of business performance.
  • Driving continuous improvement through reporting, data analytics, and ETL processes.
  • Supporting strategic planning, scenario modelling, and investment cases.
  • Mentoring and sharing best practice with more junior colleagues.
About You

You’re a fully qualified accountant with strong commercial finance experience and a knack for financial modelling.

You bring:
  • Proven ability to turn complex financial data into clear, actionable insights that influence business decisions.
  • Experience influencing senior stakeholders and partnering across functions to drive growth, margin improvement, and cost efficiency.
  • Advanced Excel skills and hands-on experience with reporting, data analytics, and ideally BI/ETL tools (Power BI, SQL, Power Query).
  • A proactive approach to developing automated dashboards and reports that improve visibility of business performance.
  • Curiosity, commercial flair, and a drive to continuously improve processes and performance across the business.
You thrive in a dynamic environment, enjoy building relationships across the business, and are motivated by helping the organisation succeed through both strategic insight and technical delivery.
