  1. Strategic Planning and Execution
    • Research and assess assets, markets, competitors and opportunities aligning with SEG’s mission and long-term objectives in the areas of K12, Early Years, Training & Qualifications, Recruitment & Retention, SEND, School efficiency, in the UK, US and other territories.
    • Create and support opportunities to engage with owners, managers, investors, partners and advisors.
    • Continually develop, maintain and report on the pipeline.
  2. Mergers, Acquisitions, and Partnerships
    • Support M&A process, including target identification, founder and seller engagement, due diligence, deal structuring, negotiation, and integration planning.
    • Establish and nurture strategic partnerships that align with SEG’s goals and create long-term value.
    • Work effectively with a range of advisors, due diligence providers and internal colleagues to deliver deal processes.
    • Implement structured processes for deal origination, evaluation, and execution to ensure efficiency and consistency.
    • Oversee project timelines, ensuring that transactions are executed on time and within budget.
    • Establish clear workflows for collaboration with internal teams and external advisors, ensuring seamless communication and alignment.
    • Develop the investment thesis, background materials and recommendations to for the Group Executive and Investment Committee.
    • Handover effectively to operations leaders and group functions post deal. Track and report on post-deal value creation.
  3. Financial Analysis
    • Review financial models, business plans and scope of financial due diligence.
    • Analyse business trends and insights.
    • Develop asset valuation metrics.
    • Develop investment analysis and scenarios with sensitivity analysis for review by Investment Committees.
    • Model the business plan and vendor financial model with SEG assumptions to project and validate business cases.
  4. Market Research and Analysis
    • Track and conduct market and competitive analyses to identify trends, opportunities, and risks in the education sector.
    • Develop investment cases and work with others to develop financial models to assess the viability and ROI of potential opportunities.
  5. Stakeholder Management
    • Build and maintain relationships with management teams, investors, partners, advisors, and other key stakeholders to facilitate growth initiatives.
    • Facilitate key decision points by presenting comprehensive insights on deal opportunities and risks.
    • Act as a trusted advisor, providing clear recommendations supported by rigorous analysis.
    • Communicate corporate development strategies and progress to internal and external stakeholders in a clear and compelling manner.
  6. Operational Integration
    • Maintain links with operating businesses in the groups and understand the drivers that deliver business success in the education sector.
    • Report on post-deal integration, results, and value creation.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field; MBA or equivalent advanced degree preferred.
  • Experience in business development, corporate development, M&A, investment banking, equity research, private equity, or strategy consulting, with a proven track record of executing transactions.
  • Established network of relationships with due diligence providers, corporate finance advisers, banks and investors.
  • Strong understanding of the education sector and its unique challenges and opportunities.
  • Effective communicator, comfortable working with teams across the business as well as external partners and investors
  • Exceptional analytical and financial modeling skills, with a strategic mindset and attention to detail.
  • Outstanding negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
