Salary Range: £34,577.59- £39,250.24 (based on the below)
Hours: 37.5 hours a week, TTO +3 weeks (Part-time hours will also be considered)
Contract: Permanent

About the role:

As a finance consultant your job is to provide sound financial advice and support and coach educational finance support staff, school leadership and Board/Governing Bodies with managing budgets and helping to make informed operational and strategic decisions.
You will provide a full end to end consultancy service to our client schools, and bespoke finance management support. You will offer regular face to face training, ongoing support and guidance as well as helping to run a crucial helpdesk.

You will be experienced in all aspects of finance, computerised financial systems including FMS and accounting in accordance with agreed service level agreement and DfE guidelines, ensuring that you can be an authority on areas of concern or improvement within maintained schools across Surrey; reducing inefficiencies and improving adherence to sector regulations. Our Finance teams work in close collaboration so while you’ll focus on schools within Surrey, you will also support with other schools across the UK including academies.

 

About you:

Working in a flexible hybrid way you will need to be self- motivated, committed and enjoy working with autonomy and responsibility.
You will need to be happy managing your own diary around the changing needs of client schools and the wider team, as well as support with peak periods within the business and sharing these responsibilities with your team.
You will need to be agile in your approach and enjoy travelling around to meet your clients face to face, collaborating regularly in our Leatherhead office, as well as working from home. You will be part of an experienced and friendly team of people, who like you, care passionately about our client schools, truly partnering with them and offering an exceptional consultative service.

Essential requirements:

  • Have a good understanding of the Surrey Scheme of Finance and the use of FMS, you may also understand other systems as well, such as Tucasi
  • Experience and confidence delivering training courses.
  • School Business Manager or Education Finance experience in a Surrey maintained school.
  • You may be qualified through experience or by being newly qualified or part-qualified (ACCA or CIMA) with relevant experience.
  • You will have a driving licence and car as travel is an essential part of the role.
